CharityTeams mourns the loss of founder Susan Hurley. Susan was a lifelong runner, coach, and cheerleader for others, both literally and figuratively. A former New England Patriots cheerleader turned champion for charity runners, she founded CharityTeams in 2008 to help nonprofits use athletic events to raise funds and build community. Through her guidance, teams raised tens of millions of dollars, and thousands of first-time marathoners found the courage to believe, "you can do it."

Susan was the brightest of lights and built the CharityTeams community so that no one would chase a big goal alone. She believed in "fun-raising," in Saturday long runs dressed as superheroes, and in the "Boylston Street moment" when belief becomes real. She taught us that when you cross a finish line, it's actually the starting line - for the next act of courage, the next kindness, and the next person you'll uplift. She will be sorely missed but never forgotten.
