What is a Boston Marathon Charity Bib?

A Boston Marathon charity bib is a guaranteed race entry that does not require a qualifying time (BQ). Instead of qualifying by running time, charity runners commit to raising a minimum fundraising amount, in CharityTeams’ case, the charity minimum, for a nonprofit partner organization.

CharityTeams has been placing charity runners in the Boston Marathon since 2008. We’ve helped raise over $42 million for nonprofitsthrough the Boston Marathon and other major endurance events, and our partnership network includes 12+ nonprofit organizations with missions ranging from cancer research to children’s healthcare.

When you run Boston with CharityTeams, you receive expert marathon coaching, group training runs, full fundraising infrastructure and guidance, race-week team events, official CharityTeams gear, and a community that cheers you from Hopkinton to Boylston Street.

FAQ

Boston Marathon charity bib FAQs

No. A charity bib guarantees your Boston Marathon entry without a qualifying time. Your commitment to raise the minimum your chosen charity sets for a nonprofit is your entry.

Each charity sets its own fundraising minimum for Boston. International runners commit to $15,000 USD and registered runners who already hold a qualifying entry commit to $3,000. You can always commit to more, and higher commitments are often prioritized in selection. CharityTeams provides every tool, template, and strategy to help you reach your goal. Most runners hit their minimum within 6 to 8 weeks of launching their campaign.
